Coursework and Preparation Programs You'll Need:

You'll need a Bachelor's Degree before you can teach in Pennsylvania  schools. There are no special undergraduate coursework requirements in individual subject areas for Pennsylvania teacher certification. American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence

The Pennsylvania Department of Education recognizes the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) as a certification body for teachers. Find out more at this Web site:

Tests

To be certified for most teachign positions in Pennsylvania, you'll need to take the following test for basic teaching skills:
PPST (Pre Professional Skills Test) Official Site: Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA)

However, for Vocational Instructional I & II licenses, the Praxis 1 Test is the required exam.

You'll also need to take one or more of the following tests in specific subject areas:
